Eric Chew visited KFC feedmill after receiving a complaint of poor PDI from SCC, our Malaysia distributor. Mr Lee, Production GM shared his concern the steam quality was not good and resulted in poor feed PDI (75%-77%).
From the results, Eric suspected feed moisture was too low due to poor conditioning and added fat in mixer being too high. Therefore, he suggested Mr Lee decrease the fat from 1% to 0.5% in mixer and set steam pressure to 1.5 bars. The feed PDI was tested and rose back to 85.5% after the adjustment was made.
The client was also approached by Kemin recently where they conducted a Mycocurb Aw trial last month and Delst is offering DMX-7 to the nutritionist at cheaper price. Mr Lee is very happy and satisfied the technical service from Eric, though, and understands the problem is not caused by MMHP. After the visit, Eric advised SCC to do close follow-up with the feed quality and possibility to offer Punch to KFC to replace the existing product from Kemin. Great job to Eric!
